SUMMARY:Field Trip - Petty's Island Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Join the NJ Natural Lands Trust for special access to this stor
 ied\, preserved island on the Delaware River near Camden after years of ve
 ry limited access. This walk through the fabulous habitat\, once a Citgo P
 etroleum tank farm\, will explore its history and legends plus its animal 
 and avian inhabitants. Although in a heavily industrialized area\, it prov
 ides important breeding\, foraging or resting habitat for an amazing array
  of wildlife &amp\; raptors including Bald Eagles\, American Kestrel and P
 eregrine Falcon\, Osprey\, Northern Harrier\, Cooper’s and Red-shouldere
 d hawks. Songbirds\, such as Savannah sparrow and multiple warbler species
  migrate along the river corridor finding habitat and cover within the isl
 and’s woods\, grasslands and wetlands. Participants will gain unique ins
 ights into what is being done and planned for as part of the ongoing resto
 ration.\nBe prepared to walk in areas with high grasses or the rocky shore
 line that affords a great view of Philly. Wear sturdy shoes\, long pants\,
  bring water and insect protection. We should be able to scope birds along
  the river. Participants 13 &amp\; older will need to sign a liability rel
 ease and register with contact information at fieldtrip@gcnatureclub.org o
 r on our Meetup site to give our host an estimate and in case of inclement
  weather.\nThis event is free and open to the public.\nDirections: To acce
 ss Petty’s Island\, go to 36th St. and Harrison Ave. in Camden\, NJ. Cra
 mer Hill Nature Preserve will be on your left. Continue on 36th St. to the
  Petty’s Island security booth and tell the guard you are there for the 
 program. Continue slowly across the bridge. We will meet to the left of th
 e Petty’s Island sign. Plenty of on-site parking available. (Link to Goo
