Cumberland County Birding Field Trip - February 24, 2007

As you can see by all of the winter clothing, it was COLD out on the boardwalk at Strawberry Avenue in Port Norris. The tidal pool was also frozen over.

The group checks out the area near the sand pit off of Turkey Point Road at Dividing Creek.

Scanning for waterfowl at the sand pit in Dividing Creek.

At Beaver Dam Boat Rentals in Dividing Creek, we checked out the common mergansers and great blue herons that were abundant.

Spotting scopes made the viewing easier at Beaver Dam. The big highlight here was a pair of bald eagles and their nest

We drove the dikes at Heislerville / Matt’s Landing, and saw a peregrine falcon with prey which was pretty exciting. It was picking a small dark bird.
